While I am frustrated at this trope where a female lead cannot explain the situation, I understand why (even if i hate it). Part of it is Korean culture of not saying private information in front of others, contradicting elders or others, and not causing a scene. Another part is though she left, she still has a timid behavior to a degree after being abused and her mother raising her voice is reminding her of that place and her old circumstances and behavior, and lastly, it is the upper-class society they are portraying where people were not so direct. I hate that trope because problems would be solved quickly if she spoke. Thank god the male lead isn’t an idiot, knows the mother was bullshitting from the beginning and waited out to see what she wanted and what she was going to do.
