It’s a flashback during the demon vs humans war. At that time, it seems like most of the demons were already content with retreating to the demon world and stayed put, Except Ragibach (which, is the one inside Cossete’s body in the current timeline iirc). Ragibach proposed to attack the human world anyway but the rest of the demons don’t really agree. But here, Azai gave her a chance that if she can prove that the Goddess won’t prove to be a big hassle during the war, he agreed that he’ll join the war and possibly coerce the others. But Ragibach lied about how the Goddess possessed no threat simply because “the Goddess only blessed one lineage” and turned a blind eye on how weird that was. Which ofc, it ended up leading the Goddess put up a barrier that separates humans and demons world, killing so many demons while at it, which also sealed one of Azai’s eyes
