   Leaves a bit of an “ick”.

   The first time around, our FL was painfully shy to the point where a clinical diagnosis for anxiety wouldn’t be out of the question.

   Because she’s awkward and ignorant, not a single person was nice to her after she married. Not a single one.

   She is divorced on obviously trumped up charges for convenience’s sake (seriously, how much information could they have gleaned from casual letters home?) And then literally starves and freezes to death in extreme poverty over the course of nearly a decade.

   It’s very difficult to like the ML after he allowed that to happen to her.

   He would have known her personality and abilities, yet let her be accused so he could divorce her, and then, despite literally being the richest man in the kingdom, allows his ex wife to starve to death, when, for about the amount he spends on a maid or two, he could have stuck her in a cottage somewhere with a small alimony.

   On the second time around, she is magically cured of her own personality and suddenly becomes a bold, enterprising person. I get that a decade of being forced to rely on yourself could do wonders for your independence and ability to force yourself to do things, but it’s not going to mean you suddenly understand complex household management and political acumen.

   One is left with the “ick” because the ML genuinely does not deserve the new and improved FL, and she deserved some kindness even when she was shy. While it’s great her character grew, the idea that she was a worthless nothing who deserved her end because she wasn’t clever, outgoing, or charming leaves a very bad taste.

   I enjoy the plot about the drug cartels and taking them down, but dislike the characters together.

   This is very similar to “Daisy; how to become the dukes fiancee” except they’re somewhat opposites. This one has a stronger plot and writing, but poorly crafted characters you don’t want to see together, while Daisy has garbage plot and world building, but a very shippable, strong couple.

   ratings 4.1 with 14 votes is not high lol. it just average. and there exist people who enjoys this kind of story so yeah….

   I have no idea how this has such high rating. FL doesn’t think things through and everything is just so awkward. No logic behind anything
