I don’t mind stupid characters for the story to be realistic but the emperor is really incompetent, he has noticed so many suspicious acts from both the queen and the duke and how much she was targeted yet he’s still slow with dealing with them, and merely gives a necklace and one knight to protect her. At this point, mc’s the one doing most of the work protecting herself and the whole kingdom
Ofc it’s the queen, she has probably done this by order of duke pacoor who’s probably working with the other 2 kingdoms, and ofc they’re trying to eliminate the annoying thorn that’s ruining they’re plans, which probably was to manipulate Damian, get him against the emperor, cause an uproar and use that opportunity to get Nabaral and Tonka to attack the empire and to overthrow the rule of the erveldote’s, the duke is probably helping them to become the new emperor or sum
