The negative words he says come off to me as banter to me meant to be gentle ribbing knowing she can take it and will rile her up and push her forward, while he sees his wife as weak and fragile and doesn’t think to show her the same behavior.

Now I’m not hating on the father for giving her responsibilities since she’s the successor and it’s her job but it seems like the only thing he cares about is his wife and not Terryl. The only thing he does is order her around. He hasn’t even taken some time to bond with her as a father. He only treats her as an heir and nothing else. He didn’t show an ounce of concern when he found them, only caring about how his wife has been. Even the mother got busy acting all lovey dovey with the father, leaving Terryl alone to cope up to the situation she was suddenly just thrown into. I’m not wishing for them to obsess over her but the least you could do is help her out and give her some ACTUAL parental love?
No, because if he did deal with Tanitar personally it would make life for everyone in his Duchy bad. As the Duke he has to think of everyone since he is their ruler and has a responsibility towards them. This is also why he can’t start sanctioning Tanitar since it would make life for the citizens of his own Dukedom bad.

You really don’t understand real fathers do you? He has expectations and trust in her BECAUSE he loves her. If he didn’t care for her then he would never “ask” her to do all these things. To him it is only natural that she will succeed… because she IS his daughter. If you don’t see that he cares for his only child then I feel sorry for you.
