To add to what Ayameshimitsu said, outside of the Duke, she has NO allies. If she ran off, they would drag her back, and if she renounced any titles she has, she would have no protection and would be murdered before she could figure out her next steps. She’s so infamous that it’s guaranteed that anybody who would choose to protect her would be murdered or would simply continue the abuse she’s currently facing. Rn, she’s emotionally shutting down but also knows she needs to play things smart too

I wish I can ignore the comments. It’s not easy for her to just leave. Up until now, she’s stayed for Estella and didn’t have anywhere to go. Now she’s in shock for losing her only family, but she needs time to figure out what she can do. It’s not like she can tell the Imperial family she wants to break off the engagement and I’m sure she’s aware that if she did, her family will through her out as its the only reason why she was brought in. Due to everyone’s cruelty to her, how do you expect her to believe the grand duke means everything he says. Abuse isn’t something to get over with immediately. It takes time. And her options are limited.
