i was thinking it was stupid too but i thought of it like this
if she didn’t it meant only the daughter will be in the cell missing the mother and suffering from being in that cold cell. what about the food or accommodation of the cell nothing was mentioned but lets say it isn’t good too and she ends up suffering more. and those people can use another cruel way to torture her
