I think that the author here is trying to connect more to the reality and the ML is trying to make the FL make her own identity as she always had that trashy ex husband and was burdened with the responsibility she forget herself in all that . The ML’s is not completely correct but he is still trying
I am curious as to what the king is thinking. He did as he said and treated her as an equal as in, he treated her like a hostage as he said he would, not showing her preferential treatment and did as he would with any other hostage, sending her to work. He didn’t interfere in what happens in that environment (which is basically prison for people working off a debt). In a way, its nice to not see a FL not get special treatment because the ML is in love with her and treated like everyone else. It’s just heartbreaking because she doesn’t deserve any of it, but as the story says, reality is cruel and unfair.
