Honestly seeing his whole perspective of the loops makes his actions not understandable. It’s not good or right! Where everyone had a decade to move on, he had 2-3 years tops and most of that was spent preparing for a holy battle to was born to fight. He’s not evil, but mentally still maturing as we see in the fourth life that he kind of feels sympathy for our MC’s abuse. This life he will actually have to grow up, visibly see what she’s going through and hopefully understand why indiscriminately killing everyone isn’t right.
Would have preferred he wasn’t the ML and they just became decent friends, but that’s unfortunately how romance manhwa’s go sometimes.
