Yeah, there was another story where an emperor had his emotions sealed away due to a betrayal until he met his daughter and the magic slowly unraveled. The difference between this story and that one was that the father in the other story, truly had little interest and showed very little emotion. Not even anger. He felt nothing, until little cracks formed, but he wasn’t quite outwardly violent. This one seems to just have anger left. Like someone who had deep trauma and rather than talking about it, locked himself away and pushed the emotions down, refusing to acknowledge it and letting the anger build. Someone with sealed emotions and can’t feel wouldn’t want revenge or want to hurt others. That’s someone who is pretending to be over something, but letting it bubble until they snaps.
In stories like this, I don’t want a redemption arc.
I want father to realize he’s in the wrong, but I also want for it being too late to fix anything. He deserves to suffer.
