@PotatoRoots, What you wrote is correct and incorrect at the same time. What you wrote about Helios giving the same task to anyone other than Kael would have never worked. You are aware about factions. Someone people will follow the rules and command of their leader while some will try to exploit it. He knew that If Diana even got the hint of him being behind all this would have backfired. She would have given the same treatment to Helios as Kael.

    .
    .
Diana really didn’t had any genuine relationship with anyone including that teacher. If she truly loved Helios and have see that teacher as her own she would have tried to atleast listen to them but she disregarded them completely. It was true that because of her upbringing she wasn’t able to adapt to many things but there was never a concept of “not being able to learn”. Life is a great teacher for people who are willing to learn but she purely became a person who was the embodiment of selfishness, enjoyed those privileges which was given to her, never took the responsibility of her own actions, used her power and position in the wrong way.
    .
    .
I will agree to your point that Kael did what he did because of being betrayed by Helios. Helios was not just a friend he was close with rather he saw him as brother. He was completely ignored and blamed by both the people he truly cared for in the 1st timeline which lead him to that heart wrenching decision.
    .
    .
I can’t blame Helios for falling in love with Hestia since she is the kind of character one would eventually fall for if they spend too much time (for boys) but I will definitely blame him if he tries to make things difficult between Hestia and Kael or force any kind of claim upon her. And he should also put a lease on his freaking wild & stupid animal who lost it’s healing powers. I swear to god I will surely curse him if he try to even confess his love to Hestia.

Agreeing with Miss_Heart. Helios probably would’ve done the same thing Kael did too, but I’ll add in the additional context of Kael and Helios were nobility and royalty from birth so they quite literally weren’t going operate on the same morality as Diana, a commoner raised on religious doctrine of even Hestia, a modern day commoner who wasn’t applying the level of gravitas the other characters were because she’s not from that reality.
    .
I’ll give Helios more credit than Diana because he knew from the jump he was in the wrong but he, like Diana, never had to deal with the ramifications bc of his position. He exhibited less audacity than Diana bc he’s more pragmatic in his views and he’s actually trying to do his job (which is why he opted to use ppl he did in the way he did)
    .
Helios wasn’t disgusted, he just doesn’t like getting his hands dirty and in the face of Diana’s judgement, he got an easy out via Kael. We don’t see their pov in the first timeline so who knows where their emotions were at when Kael died, but in this timeline, Hestia is the catalyst of change that Diana was in the OG novel while Diana is struggling to fit her or values with her new life. Of course a Helios would be conniving enough to want Hestia bc in the previous life, the two’s relationship suffered without Hestia’s intervention but like, Helios would still keep it pushing, which i think is ultimately he was “bro it ain’t that deep” about it
    .
This is part of why personally, as annoying as Diana is, I understand why her delusional self didn’t go for self reflection, but more delulu impulses. Like Ayemeshimitsu pointed out, Diana was getting some things right, but due to her experiences had no idea how the real world or politics worked. But also, how interpersonal interactions worked either until she became the princess. By nature of the novel and the world she exists in, i don’t think she had a fully genuine relationship with anyone outside of her etiquette teacher
    .
Personally i don’t disagree with Kael’s actions bc that’s how nobility do be handling things in these stories, i think he was sloppy and impulsive about it bc he probably could’ve sent someone else to so it, or found another way to get a similar result. And from what I’m seeing from this series, society at large would’ve been unbothered by Kael’s actions if the ends justified the means to enough ppl

@Ayemeshimitsu you’re right with the part that “if it’s in real life, one would call the police cause Kael killed someone even though they’re bad”, but you’re wrong about two things. First, Kael did it for them, so that they could have a peaceful life, so in real life, they might call a police (might) but will probably stay friends. Second, saying Helios didn’t understand why he did it is a big BS. I don’t know of you forgotten but they clearly stated that before acting, he definitely told Helios about the plan and he agreed. The only reason he stay away from Kael is because Diana being a green tea righteous bitch says so. What I hate about Helios is it’s not even because he left Kael, it’s the betrayal he did because of a woman, then he now has the audacity to use both of them because he can’t do anything right. And he dared to fall in love with Hestia. TF

This is another chapter that shows why I love this series. Everyone feels very human. Helios isn’t evil, just got married caught up in the high of his love and though he loves Diana, he can’t ignore what he’s starting to notice despite wanting to defend her. Diana who got everything she wanted not adjusting well to finally being told no, saying some things right (like nobles should live frugally and try to live by example) but not understanding how the real world works or politics becoming naive and vindictive as she never learned to cope with being told no. Helios and Diana being repulsed by Kael’s actions (seriously if Kael did what he did in real life you’d probably call the police but because its a romance fantasy where killing is okay as long as its the bad guys, the readers are on his side) and cutting contact. Helios cares about Kael, but never understood why his actions would have driven Kael to what he did or how bad Kael’s condition was. All the bad actions or decisions I can see real people making in everyday life. No over the top evil, just some plain human flaws and shortsightedness. Even Hestia messing up and spilling evrything is very human. Keeping that secret so long, terrified something will happen to Kael and just ends up telling Helios everything. You could wonder why she said that too him, but its not something she can tell Kael about that she saw his and her death and its easier to tell someone she already slipped up to.
