I completely agree with your point. It’s truly astonishing how society can be so judgmental towards single mothers like Rosaline, while turning a blind eye to the irresponsible actions of these two individuals who proudly announce their impending parenthood without even being married. Frankly, it is absurd to believe that Juliet is actually pregnant. It seems more likely that they are simply deceiving everyone.
By having Juliet live with the Montagues, it provides the perfect opportunity for them to fabricate her pregnancy. And if the due date arrives and there is no baby, they will probably resort to stealing someone else’s child. It may sound far-fetched, but it’s a plausible theory. Juliet, being naive and easily influenced by Romeo, will unquestioningly go along with whatever he tells her to do.
… Aren’t they already be married? They ran off together for three years. If they weren’t married, they’d be drowning Juliet in the moat or sending her to a convent, and Romeo would be getting called out for duels. Plus in the play they got married BEFORE they tried to fake their deaths.
