He probably was always like that. He probably loved the MC, but just couldn’t say anything because like he said, he probably felt kinda lost and didn’t want to interact with a world who forced him to be there. I genuinely hope they clear the misunderstandings.
If this isn’t explained better the sudden switcheroo between the characters regarding their behavior to the one they love this story will appear unreliable

So I’m guessing back in Korea he felt love-hate towards her. Hate because of the bonding esper-guide trapped him away from the empire he wanted to protect as a duke and his homeland. And love because at some point he might have started to develop feelings for her. She on the other hand loved him at first sight so ignored or overlooked his behavior due to seeing him through a pink glass. But now she saw how unconditional love was thanks to this new family and realized something wasn’t right in her relationship with Ciel. Anyway we all know they’re gonna end up together in the end since he won’t back off just because she said she’s not Seohyeon.
I think that doesn’t make any sense … why so cold so her in the other world and now head over heels … and her? First sacrificing her life for him and now this?
not the stretching pretending plot again! it will be plain boring and irritating now, would have been interesting if she just admitted the truth and pushed him away while playing hard to get game!
