The writing is quite bad, despite having some good points, there isn’t enough depth. It’s not the worst there is, but the author forgot a very important aspect for the characters: Their psychology.
Their own motivations are weak, unclear or non-existent and also… they don’t have any trauma from situations or self-doubt about things they don’t originally believe in. That cannot be blamed on bad translation. I think it’s because there only was the idea for the story and the world, but not for any character point of view – characters were just slap into the idea, not as real people of the world – as dolls to play with in that world.
