I can’t remember if it has shown already in the manwha but in the novel, the adoptive parents actually beat her pretty bad and then found out their child falsely blamed her and felt bad so they showered her with affection afterwards. There was a cycle of this happening where the child would blame Ray for something, the parents would abuse her, and then realize their child lied and feel bad so they showered her again with affection. This happened enough that to get their attention ,Ray would just self harm herself. I hope we see this because it shows just how much Ray craves a family and affection and fears abandonment.
