I love the art style, ml and fl are beautifully drawn… ML is okay for me, not that I support his actions and yes he is a jerk but idk with all the manhwas I read I can say there are far more worse ML than him, like far more worse.. also in recent chapters (14-16) he did seem to care a little more now to the fl, I mean at least he tries to find a way to cure her for whatever his reason is… Just to need to marinate this one… but the drawing I really like it (since I can’t draw something as good)

Uhm well…. at the very begining he’s trash because he hates her family and inmediatly later he is trash because he is awkward and has 0 romantic experience. But after something happens involving ths fl, he acts better towards her..
FL is dumb but she’s dumb and takes bad decisions becauE there’s something happing to her, I guess that kind of justifies it.
I only keep reading because I wanted to knoa what happened with the FL love rival (who actually isn’t a love rival).

If you are bored read it. It isn’t that bad as people bellow said.

Lol, I registered just to leave this comment to say how DIFFERENT and BAD the manhwa adaptation is. Usually I would recommend reading whatever media you prefer, but here.. no, sis.
I have no idea if it’s TL or the artist of this doesn’t know how to make the story flow, but here are examples of my impression of manhwa and novel moments and despite both having the same events how different they feel.

!SPOILERS!
Let’s start from the beginning, I hate that it depicts some event in the future to make it look dramatic, doesn’t happen in the novel, I haven’t reached this point in the story yet so I have no idea what happened there. The novel starts from the moment she arrives.
CONFLICT. In my opinion for a story that is based on a generational conflict between two families the manhwa failed to flash it out and I think it should have appeared like in first few chapters with more detailed explanation and brewing emotions because the following conflicts between characters are based on this animosity. Two families are founding families of this kingdom, one is a military giant, situated in most prosperous land, while another is a diplomatic family with many intricate marriages and alliances, they reside in north and rely on mining and occupying the only sea port connecting to another country. I do not like that the conflict started from petty things (like wrong seating arrangement or undercooked seachells etc.), but it did end up spiraling. From generation to generation the two families hated each other for so long that it was hard to stop.
So here we have, Vermont who wanted to use his adopted daughter, knowing that she had Herzol illness and she won’t survive to finally undermine Kaian’s prestige and accuse him of Claudel’s death. Big plan supported by the King too, yeah spoilers for the future but unlike Kaian who treats king well, that guy is some petty arse who didn’t like to be compared, so he hated Kaian and sent him Claudel for this reason. He eyes the Rowen territory so hard. Pathetic I know, he also falls in love with Claudel at first sight so you can guess where this will go.
CHARACTERS.
I saw many criticised Claudel for being WEAK or stupid (I will explain the ring situation below), but it isn’t the case, the girl lost will to live. In the novel her mother died in fire with the rest of the village where they lived, because the draught they experienced lasted for years. Her father sent her to his brother before he unelived himself to follow his wife. Girl, experienced tragic passing of both of her parents leaving only Hannah from the same village who followed her, this explains their deep bond and Hannah is the best, seriously.
She lived in constant neglect, even if she was not treated poorly like Cinderella, but she was always compared to her cousin Irena who was said to be the most beautiful lady. So she was a poor invisible relation, had some issues that no one cared about. Then she contracted Herzol, which haven’t appeared in their land for hundreds of years. She is used by the Duke to get some rations because Kaian planned on territorial war against Vermont and cut off food supply, King got a whiff of it and demanded the marriage. Claudel wanted to leave at least something worth after her passing, this is why she agreed, because her life felt so empty.
When she met the Duke she was not stupid, she was simply afraid of him, because he always looked intimidating, always talked sacrastically and only later she started to decipher his antics and of course she was afraid that her secret illness will be discovered and what will happen to her and the people who starved.
Kaian is also not some psycho who says and does contradicting things. I honestly thought he was so weird while reading manhwa, before novel explain his upbringing.
Kaian is only 25 when they were married, he inherited the lands quite early, he had strict upbringing from childhood and his parents expected a lot from him and he also saw their burden. After he inherited he was sent to war where he was quite successful. Which should give you an idea that he’s not some random dude, he is a lord, a lot of people depend on him, he has his own prestige and ego. The hatered for Vermont influenced him like everyone else, not only the current Duke Vermont in his description is a sly old fox, so he had no good feelings when he was forced to marry. He said many things on impulse because he had inner conflict of how he wanted to treat Claudel better with time, but at the same time he had no idea if she had planned anything, like sent to be her family spy or what. The novel did not describe him as “why did I say that?” he knew what he said, but he had his own pride as a lord to not take his words back. Basically, he was awkward and unintentionally hurts his wife. Eventually he starts to care for her more and more and his attitude changes.
RING SITUATION
This one.. honestly, I was so surprised by how I had such a different impression fron both manhwa and novel. This is the reason I went to read the novel even, to ask the nagging question – are they so inadequate?
Ring had meaning, in their kingdom the woman receives gifts of the first night. Because everyone in their castle was against her we have the maid who stole the ring.
Then comes the biggest moment that made the difference – why she lied. In manhwa it felt so forced, as if to make her make the situation last longer, but in the novel she blanked out. They were talking but he also asked her if she liked IT, did he do a good job, she was distracted (let’s not forget the novel describes her health condition better, since she is actually in constant pain and a bit in a daze a lot) and thought about his body, so she answered she did, before she realized she said she liked the gift. Again, he kinda scared her with his stern face. Inside she did not know how to react to his insistence, because he asked about the ring several times.
I can’t say it was misunderstanding, more like miscommunication moment. Later awkward Kaian realized the ring might not fit her slender finger,s o she doesn’t wear it, beofre Hannah, bless her soul, told everything about Antonia taking the ring for herself.

That’s why I think the manhwa did a poor job, I had such different impression from same situations, which says a lot. And the only difference is – words. After all comics are not solely images, if you cut the dialogue or the crucial info or make fundamental conflict expressed in such insignificant way the story will morph into something different.

This is insufferable. The 1st chapter is beyond stupid, but then you get to the 2nd chapter and there’s already ridiculously dumb misunderstanding because the ML is a moron who can’t give a woman a present in person. This will be filled with nothing but Temmes servants and family doing all they can to sabotage the couple while there was nothing for them to begin with and the FL being a pathetic damsel in distress who will be having feelings for a douchebag who treats her like shit aside from the “soft side” in other words a stupid smile while her family is greedy villains. So everyone will be insufferable and stupid.
