PART TWO OF SPOILERS!! (including parents’ pov + why Deon was sent to the war /+/ Demon King and Duke)

Ok, so Deon’s parents are not trash. Shocker, right? They actually treated him fairly normally, it’s just Deon’s memories just evil-ized them. Now the recruitment for the war was kinda messed up. They never intended to send Deon to the war because they know that he is really weak and enlisted Cruel, but something intercepted that (more spoilers, read below if you want to know) and you know what happened. While Deon is out in the hellhole for 8 years, Deon’s parents tried on multiple occasions to get Deon back but that “something” kept rejecting their requests.
Now the 8-year war has ended and our poor baby is coming back to the county to kill his family and everyone that is there. And in a sitting room, our lovely mc’s parents are having a glass of wine knowing full well that their youngest is most likely going to come and kill them all, worst-case scenario (which he does). So while they’re sitting there, they’re making a plan to get the least amount of people killed. They will send Cruel away in a different location because he is not a parent and didn’t fuck up in raising a child so badly that the said child would want to kill their parents, have the minimal amount of servants because they don’t want anyone to be suspicious of what’s going on, have the count fake his death in a carriage accident or something (they know that Deon won’t be just satisfied the Count being dead, so maybe add the Countess too), etc. Unfortunately, in the middle of them brewing up ideas, Deon comes in like “I ain’t gonna speak to you and clear up this misunderstanding and instead kill rn”, in which the parents do not resist to, and in their last moments, they pray that Cruel will take good care of his younger brother and that Deon did not deserve all of this. And that’s it. That’s their death. ONTO THE NEXT SPOILER! (it’s that “something” i was talking about earlier 😉 )

Ok, so you might’ve guessed it or not, because one of these dudes (yes, more than one person is fucking Deon’s life) looks waaaay younger than he is supposedly is, but it’s the Duke and Demon King (didn’t see the Demon King coming, huh? Probably thought it was the Emperor or smthg)! So the Duke is the one to mostly blame here, he basically started it with his greed. The duke wanted some of the Demon King’s power, so they made a bet, and that bet is that the Duke would choose a person to send in the war, and if they survived, the Duke would loose the bet and gain nothing and the Demon King can have that person as his subordinate. And if that person DID die, the Duke gets to have some of the Demon King’s power. And why did the Demon King agree to this? It’s because he was bored and this was the most entertaining thing so far. So the person that the Duke chooses to partake in their bet unknowingly is obviously Deon Hart because he’s the weakest human and would of course die in the first five or ten minutes of the battle, right? Nope! As we all know, Deon lived to the end, even with the Duke’s best attempts to kill him by sending him to the front line and making him commander, etc. But our protagonist has the best plot armor and refuses to die like a roach. So that’s why the Demon King offered Deon to be a Corps’ Commander because, yay! he has a strong human on his side. Btw, the Emperor knew about this bet, but is more like an enabler than an active better.

So we’ll start off with Deon’s brother, Cruel. So, uh, he dies protecting Deon in the upcoming war by blocking all the attacks on Deon with his body. And btw, he did not regret his decision at all to do this. The reason why he joined hands with the duke is to protect Deon and it was kinda his way to say “sorry” to Deon for not being able to help him in their childhood. Also knows about Deon’s two personalities, and was kinda half relieved half depressed that, yay, Deon doesn’t have to remember his trauma, but boo, that he has so much trauma Deon’s mind couldn’t handle it and set up a coping mechanism. Also, Cruel has prevented the Duke from killing Deon on a handful of occasions. So, in the end, he doesn’t regret his death at all. He’s only afraid nobody loves Deon at all after he dies. (Also, he doesn’t hate the demon realm as long as they give lots of love to Deon. Isn’t that sweet??).

Ok, so the aftermath of Cruel’s death. So Cruel had actually predicted this, but Deon had found out what Cruel did for him, and this of course makes him pass out from the stress as his two personalities were fusing together (realizing the truth had to unsurface all his memories). He was bedridden for days and fell into depression, and wanted to kill himself but couldn’t bring to because he was alive due to his brother sacrificing his own life for Deon. So instead Deon resolved to get revenge towards the duke and king because they saw this all happening and did nothing. So Deon completely betrayed the humans and faithfully became the 0 Corps’ commander (because he was acting as a double agent and didn’t really care about either of them)..

Ok, so Deon fulfilled his revenge and killed all of his targets, including the Demon King. Feeling satisfied, his depression somewhat lifted and lived a few more years out of respect for Cruel. But right as he commits suicide, the figure of death descended upon him and they had a little chat. Apparently, both the duke and Deon had accumulated a crazy amount of karma, and because of this their souls would be immediately destroyed right after their death and won’t be able to be born in another body. But because of some curse they got, they have to suffer in the afterlife, then when they do reincarnate, they live a bad life. Deon asked about Cruel of course, and Cruel got the same curse. So, naturally Deon was heartbroken, and he made a deal with Death and volunteered to pay for Cruel’s karma as well in exchange for Deon’s eyes (meaning he would be blind for his upcoming lives). Deon thought this price was cheap and died happily, knowing that Cruel is at peace now.
Uh, cute and depressing thing after Deon killed himself, Ed (Deon’s lovely assistant) buried him next to Cruel knowing that that was the best place for Deon to rest.
