I think you guys are forgetting something. Claude didn’t have a good childhood, he was a child to a concubine and he hadn’t experienced any affection apart from his brother, who even turns out bad. So athy’,s mother was the first person he loved and who loved him. He erased his affections for her because he didn’t know how to deal with the grief after losing her and as a result also hated athy. I am not justifying his actions but he did change and he held affection for athy as well and did end up doing a lot of things for her. He changed for his daughter. Now Claude isn’t really my favorite character but meh
Um I’m sure everyone on the comments know Athy the child is not in fault. Claude is wrong and I try to understand his side and see why he acted like that but he is still do it wrong. So Athy in the story will decide if she want to forgive him or not. Y’all people can say whatever u guys want but in the end that’s theirs story. She decide it here. It’s fictional story where the daughter forgive the father not instantly but where we see the reason and step by step how they together heal from this. Don’t project your trauma and hatred of your real life experience to the character, they are not real.
I saw comments saying that if Claude hadn’t lost his wife due to athy’s birth he wouldn’t have hated her. But, ask yourself is that really a childs fault? What’s wrong with you all?? If he truly loved her to that point he should cherish their daughter they have together cause she looks so much like her not hate her.
