Gu Qingning, the orphaned daughter of the Gu family, was raised in the Marquis of Guangping’s household. She and her cousin Shen Ruoying were engaged around the same time, Shen Ruoying to the heir of the Duke’s manor, Lu Jingyu, and Gu Qingning to his younger brother, Lu Hangzhi. However, after Lu Jingyu was reported killed in battle, Shen Ruoying, desperate to escape her reputation as a ‘husband-killer’, seduced Lu Hangzhi. To Gu Qingning’s shock, Lu Hangzhi then demanded that she willingly lower herself to become his concubine. Unwilling to surrender her dignity, Gu Qingning instead made a fateful choice, to marry the deceased Lu Jingyu, claiming her rightful place as the Young Duke’s wife in both name and honor.

Wow, I’m impressed! Only 5 chapters in, and I’m really liking this! The translation, pacing, plot, and characters are better than I usually see from this genre.

The FL is GREAT! She is not about to let herself get walked all over and it seems highly likely that she’s going to get rewarded for all of it. I also feel like this is a plot that hasn’t been beaten into the ground yet, so that’s refreshing too.

I’m really excited for the rest! This has instantly gone up pretty high on my list of stories I want to differently watch for updates! If it continues like it has started out, it might even end up on my favorites list. That’s how shocked I am at how much I’ve enjoyed it already.
