That the Empress orders her own father to the North is just as indicative of how the she sees her son and everyone else. Her other blood relatives like her cousin too, Seral (Viese’s wife). She uses them all for her own desire for power, her raising Angenas is HER status, wealth and power base and even if she loves her son, it’s only if he does what she wants. She’s the highest position a woman can get in the Empire but it’s not enough for her bc the Emperor is most powerful/can leash her. So of course, she also knows the only way she stays in power is if her son becomes emperor.

…huh? are we forgetting that the empress has been physically and mentally abusing Astana since he was a child, brainwashing him to do whatever she wanted and using his position as a “future king” like a chess piece? he’s a shit person because he was raised in an abusive family, that’s not what’s “best” for him or their family
As much as i don’t the empress, i have to admit that she’s only working for what’s best for her child and family. As everyone around her is quite useless and the one in the wrong is her husband the emperor who in fact should’ve kept it in his pants instead of fostering a bastard child and then leaving him and his mother to suffer at the power struggle of the royal palace.
