He knows EXACTLY what Jian wants which is why he’s trying to hide her in the palace. Jian wants to go back to the north and the duke is looking for her, it’s a perfect situation. But because he one sidedly developed feelings for her, even pushing away the guard she once became friends with, he’s trying to keep her clueless and trapped in the palace. That is why he opposes her being with the princess so much. Because he knows when she sees how the princess will treat her she will wanna go to the princess, and for good reason too. The prince is a selfish person and he knows it, that’s why he feels so guilty around her. He purposefully keeps her in the dark. All in all Jian needs to get away from the prince and reunite with the duke NEOW🙏🏾🙏🏾
