I do think she never changed. She’s always been kind, but he never made an effort to know her. The orphanage was the first time they had such a long conversation because he left quickly every time. While the orphanage was self interest, she immediately attached to the child and worried about the girls who didn’t have a prospect of a stable job, and the moment the maid told her about her hardship, she gave her a little bonus, thinking about what she said, not to change her future, but simply because she discovered a hardship. She didn’t even realize people thought that badly of her to the point that Ricardo just thought she was a stalker or would do something and to the orphanage. Ricardo doesn’t seem like a bad guy. PTSD and Survivors guilt are terrible things, but in the end, he did cheat without properly breaking up with her.
The thing is, she never even changed, she was always kind. He just never tried to get to know her and I think that is the worst. Towards the end, it was his fault, he cheated on her. He was the one who made her a monster.
Dang, cut the guy some slack. Sure, she shouldn’t have to “earn” his affection. But why should he have to somehow figure out the hidden personality that she never expressed? What is her kindness worth if she outwardly acted only as a self-centered narcissist?
If you don’t show any redeeming qualities, what makes you expect that others will fell the obligation to make an effort to find them? 😐
One thing is to change just to please a man, and another thing is to actually aim to become a decent human being, which will make other people appreciate your company.
And sorry but nope, SHE was who made herself a monster. The ML never led her on. She is the one who became obsessed with her ARRANGED partner who clearly didn’t give a fuck about her from the beginning. She could have done the healthy thing, which is to move on.
PLEASE, PLEASE DUMP HIM!!! If you have to change into a completely different person to “earn” someone, they are not worth it and do not love you. She is not a bad person underneath her taciturn surface, he should be able to see that or draw it out on his own.
