This story would be better if they made the sister more relevant. Scarlett just stops being important to the narrative ones she gets humiliated. Now its just about Charlotte being OP and getting special privileges. It’s so boring.

(Read to chapter 28) I wanted to read more but frankly the story is SUPER basic and boring. FL is basically very OP which isn’t usually a problem, but it depends on the execution of the plot, and in this case it was handled poorly. Her sister is not compelling as a villain, in fact she can’t even compare to FL at all, it’s frankly a joke. I felt really bad for FL at first and as someone who dislikes confrontation myself, I could somewhat relate to her. But then even after her sister literally showed her true colors, FL is still using the ‘sister card’ to justify why she can’t entirely hate her and it made me lose all respect for FL.

Beginning- interesting.
After chapter 30-something -boring as fuck
Skite
A member of the over-powered god-modding mary-sue genre. Our FL is the ‘most amazing ever’ type mage, who masters every discipline immediately, even the super special one no one else in the country can, and she does it without teachers, practice, and after a decade of not doing anything because she was pretending to be an idiot. She’s also a genius in all other areas, like math, history, botany, etc. The good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, our heroine always wins and is the smartest, prettiest, and most virtuous. Some differences that stand out are that the ‘villain’ sister is very childish. She made the initial demand when she was a literal child, doesn’t do much besides stamp her feet, and while she genuinely worked very hard on her own and honestly earned her place and achievements at school with her own effort….it’s also true that she is a tiny ant compared with her sister (but so is everyone) and nothing she ever did would have been considered praiseworthy in comparison if her sister had shown her abilities. So, you do get it. The villain and the FL appear to be on a reconciliation arc where the FL saves her and she admits her sister is so much better than her. The revenge/face slapping aspects are also tertiary to the main storyline of the FL attending school and making connections and the secondary story of handling the political reality that she is now a coveted weapon for any country, which is nice and also different from how this sort of story usually goes. So, more substance than usual, but you’re still only going to want to read this when you’re in the mood to be all-powerful, ever perfect, and have everything go your way.

I’m not sure why, but I wasn’t expecting very much from this. However, I’ve really enjoyed it. While the fl is originally allowing herself to be a doormat, it’s really just because she doesn’t care enough to cause an argument over it rather than being too feeble to do anything about it. And pretty early on, she gains that will to shine brightly like the genius she is. Once she does, there’s no waffling about it. She flipped the switch from acting average to bring her true outstanding self and doesn’t back down from the newly revealed bad a that she is!
