I don’t understand how Alan can take the Shellgrave name without adoption. This isn’t some modern simple name change, and if he’s adopted he becomes related through adoption. He’s also disenfranchising his own people who rely on him. Grace’s whole “heir” issue is annoying and unhelpful. Alan’s own parents are willing to use him as a breeding stallion, thus controlling his children and making Alan a puppet. Meaning they can throw away Alan and Grace’s child if they want to. I still can’t forgive Grace’s parents for starving her and they act like they care. I can only say that Alan should take the Shellgraves offer right now, because his parents are insane that I think his own safety is compromised. Truthfully they should just find a better option, such as seeing the King. The King might be the only person who can force anyone’s hand, and may also be sick of the Shellgrave’s and Ward’s family feud.
