I highly recommend reading the novel, it’s really good and not very long compared to other novels. But when you do keep in mind that this guy gets so much worse…
He doesn’t see her as a woman, but a person similar to her mother who had a tragic soul. He’s just comparing everything to her soul. If he fancies anything, it’s her SOUL.
I don’t think he has feelings for her. He noted she’s beautiful but he’s a lot more focused on the state of her soul and worry that she’ll do what his mother did. Which, if you have a loved one that commits suicide, you do move heaven and earth to try to stop others from doing the same. I’m not getting romance vibes from this guy.
