The early translations aren’t great. They are understandable but definitely doesn’t make it a super easy read as there are moments where you have to use context to figure out what’s going on. Translation aside, the art is beautiful and I’m curious of what’s going on. You feel her frustration of being in a society where she has no worth and yet she is very capable. As with most Korean stories, because she marries someone powerful she becomes in a position she can make decisions, but it would be nice o see a story where she earns a title for herself and get power on her own without relying on marriage to do so. A few are out there but they are too heavily outnumbered which pushes the overall subtle message in Korean culture of marrying a guy of high status to flaunt your power and wealth whether intentional or not. Because you can’t become a girl boss without a rich husband behind you and if you do, you aren’t the FL.
