Setting aside his inferiority complex, she already destroyed the “stuck up noble” image that he kept creating around her with his hatred when she fell in love and accepted him regardless of his birth and status. She doesn’t fit into the “perfect goddess” box or the “arrogant aristocrat” box that he now wants to put her in. That already tells me that it’s incredibly likely that if she had known more of the reality and what it meant that he came back from that mission alone she may have actually been a lot more sympathetic like he wanted. She’s not a bad person just clueless. But he needs to stop deciding by himself who he thinks she is and then punishing her for not fitting his label. He looked really uncomfortable when she told him that she liked him despite him not being of noble birth.
