And as a “fun” tidbit, this allegedly did to ppl being killed due folks thinking the patients were being possessed or participating in witchcraft. The official term is ergotism and in this narrative, it was preventable had the ppl had the means to store the grains properly and used better agriculture practices (since the money is being funneled directly to the lords of the area, that wasn’t going to happen)
