Woah this is a well written story. I can honestly relate to her when my mother don’t need me or don’t rely on if like she’s going to abandon me like she did before when I’m just a kid. I’m crying like a mad person inside the train pack with people.
This is incredibly well written and it feels very true as well. Her mom wants her to trust she is able to protect her and Lily wants to protect her mom and be needed by her so they are moving in completely different directions. To us it’s easy to see that they simply need to trust and rely on each other, but due to Lily taking on the role of the mom before and her mom acting virtually as Lily’s child (which happens a lot in parent-child relationships especially with the older children), her mom feels guilty and wants to correct her mistakes, whereas Lily actually has been raised in a very traumatizing way.

I think it’s because she had a sort of codependency with her mother than now she feels like “ if mother doesn’t need me she won’t keep me around” while it should be a relationship where the child receive all the love and affection and care while giving nothing in return
