The earlier chapters focuses more about raising and helping an abused child. Abel can be seen as the care taker of the young ml. If you read the chapters long enough, you’ll know that there’s no romance in the earlier parts of the story especially when the ml is still a kid. The ‘yaoi’ that everyone is concerned about does not come in action until the ml is all grown up.

There’s a huge time skip that happened and that’s when the buff mc turned into a fragile twink around the ml’s age. I think the mc and the ml only interacted for a month before the time skip so I don’t even think that time could be used for grooming. I assure you that it’s not weird at all, unless you just read below 15 chapters like @Kookadoo

For those who are concerned about age gap, there is a huge 11 year time skip where the two are separated and have no interaction before meeting again as adults. I think that’s as vague as I can put it without spoiling…

While this is tagged as “Yaoi” and the male lead is technically an adult (in chapter 4 he mentioned he’s been training under his master since he was 8 and this is his tenth year) while the prince is only 8 himself, I can see where this will be a problem. However, as of reaching the most recent chapter (chapter 12) I read the relationship between the two as that of an older sibling or guardian taking care of a child that has suffered abuse. I recognize that due to the “Yaoi” tag this relationship will eventually turn romantic, as of right now it is a story of an abused little boy finally meeting with someone that is treating him with like a human and helping him to grow.
I am cautiously optimistic of this series as there seems to be a bit of mystery and something sinister going on behind the scenes with the royal family that I really want to find out more.

Nope! He’s a CHILD, A CHILD!!!! this is not okay, the plot goes every dragon born needs a reagas or something and they are always pretty boys as are the dragons or whatever and they are essentially lovers that take the dragons. But the prince is a YOUNG child and his rageas or whatever is an ADULT.
