I don’t think that’s something to be offended by. I think everything he said is actually spot on. All those other reasons are superficial because no one gets anywhere without be liked by someone. Whether you’re strong, handsome, or work hard unless someone likes you enough to open the door you won’t get anywhere.
Because like he said you could be one of those things or all of them but all it takes is someone being better than you to take your spot.
So being liked enough to be given an opportunity is something to be grateful for.

I’d feel offended by that. Or feel worse. Like “Oh so I only got the position because of personal relations? Not because of my hard work and skill, but just because he likes me? So the truly skilled won’t be able to be the commander simply because I know the boss?” Those are the sort of thoughts I’d have. This seems like forced writing. I don’t think what the MC said was that comforting. Let me know what you guys think.
