@Ayameshimitsu, you’re right, but the problem with these kind of stories is that ML will never truly realize how much of a shit he was, he’ll demanding for her to return, never asking properly for forgiveness and FL will eventually forgive based just because he’ll get an injury or something like that. There’ll be no proper redemption arc, no proper communication. I bet next chapter he will start to work with her in same police office, taking all the credit of her hard work.
Just because you leave someone, doesn’t mean you don’t love them. It doesn’t mean you don’t hope they change or will chase after you, you just don’t let them come close or keep a distance. Given the title of the story, I don’t think she’ll take him back immediately. She’s made up her mind, but she still loves him, just doesn’t plan to return to him. That being said, unlike most terrible ML, I do think this is a case of ML being so dense and socially inept, he really didn’t realize anything was wrong and the FL never voicing her dissatisfaction out loud other than the case of her sister. Basically, lack of communication broke down the marriage which is honestly the reason for a lot of failed relationships.
