She’s saying that as far as she understands Cesare’s motivations, it doesn’t make sense that he married Isabella in the past life. He cares about honor and prestige and his reputation. Marrying a woman who has been with another man, even in an official capacity as a wife, is a blemish on the honor of a man. So even if he wanted Isabella as a woman he could have made her his hidden mistress, and have a pure official wife like Arianne. Instead he married Isabella, a widow. So the issue is less, “why did he want Isabella over me” and more “why did he choose a wife that blemished his honor? There is information/motive that I am not aware of.”
