I think the “master” bit is a translation issue. It’s probably closer to like the master of the house which is translated in most other stories into just their title, so I think of it as the equivalent of her calling him “Duke!”

She really needs to stop thinking of her husband as “master”. It’s giving serious ick. I bet the prince does love her while also trying to get a rise out of her husband. Because there’s no way a prince would be allowed to marry a divorcee unless he was ready to fight for it.
