@Skite your right but i hope his biggest punishment is living without Haesoo and maybe work on fixing himself or healing i also hope that Na hae soo heals aswell because sometimes things dont work out. I like taehas character because it shows that she made a friend that she can share all of her burdens too instead of just one single person in her life. Trying to fix a broken relationship would have just ended up breaking hae soo even more
I like that the author is going the Life and People are Complicated and Nuanced route, with a bit of The Universe Sucks.
I bet their relationship started going downhill after they lost their baby, with the already taciturn Haesoo becoming puppet like and emotionless, and Mincheong having to deal with that on top of his own feelings about the loss of the baby. Then he borrowed a lot of money and learned that no matter what he did, it didn’t change anything, so he became resentful of feeling useless, resentful when Haesoo stopped believing she can rely on him, and resentful of Haesoo’s constant suffering when he wanted to give her a good life and failed. So he twisted into a creature that tried to believe Haesoo deserved a terrible life and didn’t deserve nice things from him, so that he didn’t have to face how soul crushingly bad he feels about her not getting the good things he wanted to give her.
He definitely views her as his ideal woman, who knows every aspect of him in ways no other person ever will, and we know that he considers her his end game. He is never fully serious about his affair partner or escaping his life. His affair partner is more like a temporary indulgence. He continues to mentally praise Haesoo’s housekeeping and cooking, while looking down on his girlfriend as spoiled, stupid, and vapid.
He is very tuned into Haesoo and perks up immediately when she displays emotion and interest in anything. We all saw how he reacted when she brought a flower home: he is thrilled she is showing any sort of emotion and his attraction is immediately kindled. Her being jealous puts him through the roof and he finds the teddy bear adorable and thrilling.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to inspire this reaction in her himself, and his inability to break her out of her funk (and his own funk) after their many losses and her not having any close friends or family who could have, make them a very tragic couple.
We get the distinct impression that he intends to move back in and return to Haesoo eventually, possibly after his trial period is over and he’s no longer at risk from his affair partner getting him fired, so he can return with something to offer.
I think Mincheong views this affair and current shake up as a small blip in the road, and actually healing to the relationship in the long run. Haesoo seems to be emerging from her years-long depression and showing interest in things again, even if it was jealousy-driven, Mincheong can finally feel like he’s contributing and useful now that he has a good job, and their debt is nearly paid off. This could possibly wind up being the start of the best years of their shared lives.
But, unfortunately, he did not count on Haesoo having other options. Had they still been married,, if Haesoo had had friends or family to drag her out of her depression, or if Taeha weren’t around offering to be the new and improved Mincheong, I could see Haesoo being forced by circumstance to fix things and it actually working, with both of them agreeing this was a terrible period of their lives before they moved on to financial comfort and starting a family. But Taeha does exist and he is persistent, so this will be more like those men who think things got fixed because their girlfriends stopped complaining, only to be blindsided when she moves on.
On the whole, I have great sympathy for Mincheong and how he grew twisted by the shitty universe which chews up poor people and spits them out. After they split, I hope he goes on to have a decent, middle class life, with his greatest punishment being that he can’t be with Haesoo, and must live a life of mediocrity, rather than with his soul mate, leading to wistful regret and aching longing about “what ifs”.
The Author thanks for new chapter
But still what’s the point
Kang mincheol so kind when he’s young
He give Na hae soo so much
It’s means everything she give to him when they’re married make it sound even ?
I don’t think so,
But fr, this was a great chapter. Like the author did a good job showing character development— I know we all wanna hate Kang Minchoel but great characters make you feel conflicted (and this is probably how the FL feels) like don’t get me wrong I hate his cheating toxic ass but I’m also SAD because like their back story seemed so touching and this must be how the FL feels.
Like him working hard??? To get her a phone??? Calling her Wifey??? So far not paying attention to other girls TT^TT and KNOWING what happens to them in the future </3
Okay, everyone has a good side but that doesn’t mean she should forget what he has done. this was him IN the PAST. also i get he has no parents but like buddy everyone has problems and i feel bad for him tho because that may have influenced his character, BUT why now like why did he do this now?? bro made her waste 13 YEARS of her life and still wont let her move on. HE LITERALLY Complains about her not having any emotions and he only really liked her a lot when she was young and when he needed someone but then when he found a younger girl he decides to leave her??? bro has a mental disorder. he did not stay loyal to her in the end he’s just selfish and he thinks she’s a doll and will come back to him eventually. The AMOUNT OF PAIN she is probably going through just because of this guys stupid mistakes that he chose to make himself. I HAVE so much to sayy but im afraid it will take too long. Some stories make these type of mens male leads making us think they “redeemed” themselves like why do the women have to ENDURE THIS. she’s obviously not going to get over him quickly because like 13 YEARS with just him in her life.
I lowkey get why she is still hung up over him. He was there for her during hard time and probably the first to show her kindness so that’s why she probably got attached to him (I TILLL HATE HIS CHEATING ASS)
Who says ‘money doesn’t matter’? If they had money today, they might have been a happy family. ‘Money does matter’—that’s the reality. There is a Bengali proverb, ‘অভাবে স্বভাব নষ্ট,’ which means that financial hardship can corrupt human behavior and lead people to make unethical choices. Still, I don’t know about Mincheol, because he mentions Hae Soo’s age multiple times. So, I think Mincheol might have cheated on Hae Soo even if they weren’t poor.
I kind of feel sorry for kang mincheol, he was a trash later in life but i kinda understand him. He fell in love with fl and imagined future with her but adult life was not easy. It was showed that fl was pregnant and she lost the baby and that they have debts. Maybe when mincheol’s grandma was alive he saw how she worked hard to earn money for him and died not long afterwards. Maybe the whole trauma he got as a kid reflected in his adult life. Maybe he was afraid of creating family with fl
I skipped this whole fucking chapter lol fucking waste of a backstory. This should’ve been like 15 chapters ago not after he cheats the fuck outta her.
What a waste of a chapter…
Kang might have been kind in his youth, but that does not forgive how trashy he is as an adult.
I get why she fell in love, but she deserves better.
I hope the ML isn’t a sequel to her trashy love life and he treats her with the love and respect she deserves.
