I can accept them being trained to go after him, but my biggest issue is that starving animals are weaker. Unless they very carefully kept them just strong enough to hunt, they should only be able to scavenge to eat. That is if we continue not to have magic in this.

If they’re starved, wouldn’t they have focused continuing to eeat the wol that was killed and the large deer first? That takes time to eat.
