@Sinnari I think it’s because in Korean society, they have a very big problem with corruption and cults. Corruption is rampant in government and churches, and they have a lot of insidious religious organizations in real life.
If you notice, this is the plot of many Korean movies and dramas because it is an actual problem in real life. So I think that’s why so many people write about it in comics too.
The same way bullying comes up in a lot of Japanese manga, or how sleeping around is the plot of a lot of American shows. The art just reflects aspects of society that are actually happening.
Why is it in every tail of this type that the church/temple/religion are always EVIL while pretending to be good. This theme is getting boring and old, just once I’d love to see a story where the church was actually helpful and/or a force for good. …SIGH…
