Okay but, isn’t it his job to take care of his lands. They are a part of his territory, they are his people and they were attacked by monsters. It’s his job to take care of them, but he’s asking for a condition? Granted, that’s the plot, but it doesn’t make sense. The writer could’ve made a different excuse.
