um nah the book makes no sense cas its probably her life. everything this is all from her perspective which is why they have alot of gaps. (something like father i dont wanna marry ig)
The original plot doesn’t make sense. If the empress was so important, how could she just waste away and die? Did no one tell her she was important? Did the country fall to ruin (did that happen in the part of the book after she stopped reading?)
I like to think that the OG Empress has now wound up as a civil servant and is absolutely loving her job and new life. Her new job seems so much easier and more relaxing than her old one, and her workaholic ways mean she rises to the top and becomes the big boss quickly.
