what i don’t get is why did the fl die originally?? why couldn’t her family step in the moment she got locked up and why did they never visit her? its not like the duchy is super unstable, and its not like the emperor/empress dowager can interfere when they’re richer and more powerful
if they just visited her like once they could’ve stepped in and if they knew that the empress dowager was a horrible person who attempted to kill the first prince why would they leave their beloved daughter/sister in the palace without any guards from the duchy
just in general the plot and characters of this story are quite shallow and the fl is so powerless even tho she’s the empress and her family is rich and whatnot like shes done nothing but get dragged around

As the emperor he can change the rules and approve the divorce, but this honestly frustrates me. It just shows how trapped most women are and nobles under the royals rules. The fact that you can’t divorce unless the husband agree and the fact that having mistress is allowed 😑 I need a story with a female lead who doesn’t give a shit about rules and be like hey we’re getting a divorce and signed the paper and just leave.
