I feel like that the man in his dreams was the white haired girl’s brother, just a theory tho. So in the start the guy was devastated and just trained for all his life and if we connect it to what happened to the white haired girl’s brother; it would really make sense considering the fact that the brother got ridiculed for his swordsmanship.
