So Ash did all the work and gets nothing while the empire will use the land to their own benefit. The older sister also basically sacrificed Ash since she is involved with this whole go kill the demon king situation. I bet she killed their parents as well and didn’t expect Ash to come back alive.
Or it could be that the emperor is killing them all while the older sister is trying to protect the family but couldn’t in the end. So she pretends to be evil and unloving to she the enemies that her family is unimportant to begin with.
