@ the trope relies heavily on the suspense of disbelief, and only those willing and able to put aside things like logic and common sense can actually imerse themselves and enjoy the story for what it is. I’m… having a little trouble
The protagonists of these reincarnation stories for some reason always seem to think that their “souls have switched”… but isn’t that notion just a dumb thing to think? Why would the soul that was in the body previously just disappear? and why would a holy spirit do something as “unholy” as that? To begin with… why would she be able to switch her souls with another person simply because they fell down a cliff? I mean, if they died then the body would have been injured badly right? So while we never really get confirmation in stories like these… isn’t it far more likely that Hedwig ALWAYS had the same soul? Only thing that happened is that she now remembers her other life? But how does that work? How could she be Hedwig before going back in time when she existed in the past as well? How could the soul have been in two bodies at the same time? Well… how is she even able to possess Hedwig’s body right now if that wasn’t possible? As we were shown, this is BEFORE she was burned at the stakes… So yeah…
