Sorry but I feel like last chapter and this chapter is BS. Yes, everyone loved each other but the Charlot family’s love is bullshit. It’s toxic.
An adult man “abandoned” his family (father and adult brother) to get married to the woman he loved lmaooo that’s a hot take bro, there was no abandonment, an adult man was just taking the next steps in his life. The abandonment narrative is controlling af. the grandfather constantly stalks and intimidates Savina’s family for years to the point where they have to move from place to place – even Savina’s dad constantly says they have to move so the Charlots won’t hurt them.
All of Grandpa’s solutions are bullshit. Separate mother and child so their lives would be better??? Still, he thinks living as a noble is better. Didn’t even learn this lesson after his son spends the last decade of his live fleeing from Charlot. If he really wanted no one to look down on Savina he should have legitimize Savina by officially accepting her mother into house Charlot as well. Keeping her away in the countryside just further cements the idea that Savina is a commoner’s daughter and the Charlots don’t recognize the marriage.
And what kind of idiot thinks hiring his son’s ex fiance as a teacher is a good idea especially believing that she almost married into house Charlot as an advantage lmaooo he just cares about Charlot charlot charlot.
He sobs about his son not swallowing his pride and asking for help while he stalks his son and threatens his wife! Why didn’t HE swallow HIS pride and talk to his son???? His son didn’t have an excess of pride, he was happy breaking his back supporting his wife and daughter! He didn’t want to go back to Charlot and live as a duke! There was no pride to swallow!
This is all BS y’all, don’t fall for this narrative.
