I pity Arendo. In my Opinion he was only manipulated by Medea. And was put by her in that situation. I love it that he repents in the end and gave up. And the way his parents and his brother still loves him. I hope he find his happiness.

Medea (blue haired lady) was the princess of a fallen kingdom forced to marry the former emperor, and is stepmother to the current emperor. She gave birth to the former emperor’s child right around the time the current empress (the orangey haired lady who asked for a hug near the end of the chapter) gave birth to the current emperor’s child, but Medea had the babies swapped out so that her biological son (that black haired prince) would be raised by his biological brother the current emperor, would be a candidate for the throne as they thought he was their first-born son. The other baby (that the current empress actually gave birth to) died, and Medea schemed to have Arlando (her biological son, that black haired prince) appointed as crown prince, but her schemes failed and the position was instead given to his brother (the orange haired prince who is the biological son of the emperor and empress). In this chapter the emperor and empress are affirming that even though they had found out at some point that he wasn’t their biological child, they still raised him and care about him as their son. The emperor also told him that he wasn’t denying him the position of crown prince because of his origin, but rather because the emperor felt that his path was different (and honestly Arlando doesn’t have a great personality so he shouldn’t be emperor)
