I’m sorry to say this author but you are quite wrong about Islamic culture. I’m a born Muslim and Islamic culture never ever had harem or even royal culture there was and is democracy only in our religion, and harem system is out of questions because in Islam you can’t touch let alone sleep with other woman’s or man’s other than you spouse it is considered a great sin to do sex or even hold hands and Physical with another wan or man other than your own wife or husband. That harem system was not in Islam not the kingdom system. I don’t know what happens in history for those kings to even forget their own culture and have harems or something like that! It’s just their doing!! It’s not the Islamic culture. Please research well before you make a statement I’m so offended by this!
