Personally I think it’s a smart move. They don’t mind him becoming successful. It just can’t be on their show, since they’ll get punished by the powerful man who hired them to make his son famous. So just get the MC another opportunity and remove him from the show. They get to put the MC, a definite future superstar, in their debt. As well as saving their show. Two birds with one stone.
