At the banquet, Seria told Cassius that she lost her memories and it was the butler who told her and Cassius was like “it would be better if you forgot anyway” and she responded that the butler didn’t know that he was trying to kill her but she knew from what she remembered because even as a kid she wasn’t stupid. One should recognize a struggling person. “If the butler didn’t come, you would have killed me outright. And you would have dropped me in the lake.”
In Cassius pov, it would have been like the unwanted illegitimate child was lost and drowned.( Actually their father never knew Nissos was involved)
And Seria said she knows she was ruining the “perfect atmosphere” in the castled and was sarcastic about how he doesn’t want her gone anymore because she is a stern. It turns out Cassius likes prestige be it being affiliated with a stern or dancing with a grand duchess (how it turns out to be the same person…).
Obviously at that moment she was guessing everything and had confirmation because Cassius was frozen in place.
But suddenly Cassius grabbed her for a dance and she complied (they were partner for a dance for some reason) but she was scared even then, the body remembered the fear. That’s when Rouche grabbed her and she cried.
With Seria in his arms, rouche went to a secluded room. He calmed her and asked what happened and who did it. She averted the subject as much as she could ( she did ask why he came earlier and he said “you should consider the feeling of a husband who has to wait for his wife”). But in the short time he was there he saw that Cassius was the problem and begged her to tell him, to trust him. And she told him.
Rouche stood up and said ” I made a mistake. I should’ve broken his neck at the banquet”. It went something like this
R: I should’ve killed him
S: Don’t kill him
R: he has to die
S: yes but dying comfortably is too easy
R: I will allow a duel
S: okey. I’m sure you intend to keep him alive
R: the grand duchess asks me not to kill him, I will have to obey
The deal was made
And she told him, when the berg give him a room he should discard it and go to her room ( with that, rumor will spread as to how the berg are not hospitable)
Rouche didn’t want Seria to attend the duel because it would be ugly and she complied.
There was a time were her father and his wife came with a doctor. While he examinated her, rouche passed the marquis couple and went straight to Cassius at the banquet and asked for a duel ( with the glove slap of course. Twice actually. Two gloves, two slaps). He tried to get out of it and Rouche was actually very satisfied with the answer because then he could go full war against keliden.
C: without reason, war is considered barbaric

And Cassius knew Rouche knew about him and Seria and he accepted the duel

Cassius was upset that that story came back biting him because he thought because of seria’s strong pride she would never tell(in the manhwa it’s said that she didn’t tell because no one would believe her)
Rouche disarmed him in one second and stomped on him on various places and broke some bones and because it’s a duel no one could interfere, and then the head in the lake water.
A gard went and told the marquis who was still with Seria and Seria was like “I can’t believe I missed it. What a waste”. The marquis went alone while the marchioness tried to convince Seria to stop the duel. AND there Abigail asked for her own duel( Seria was even suprised it didn’t come earlier). We know how it went
The next morning, Seria was summoned by her father. She told him the 10years ago story, he wouldn’t believe it and she said to ask the butler. He was choked ( a loyal butler took the liberty of hiding something so important yadda yadda…)
It went almost like in the manhwa.
From here was the part I thought was really a waste.
When she went out, there was Rouche but also from one side of the hall to the oder there was kalis’aide who she avoided and a furious Nissos.
Nissos followed them and Seria was starting to think he is unaware of what happened 10years ago. She talked to him.
S: I’m leaving
N: Are you really leaving after turning the castle upsidedown?
S: Yes
N: Did something happen to you
S: Yes
N: what happened
S: Nissos, you’re really stupid. I think it would be better if you spaced out like that all the time
N: SERIA KELIDEN
S: My name has changed. Funny how you keep calling me that
And she went away thinking that’s for the best for his mental health
Nissos then heard kalis cut ties with Cassius ( they were classmate and friends before the engagement) and went to ask Cassius and overheard Cassius and the butler somewhat verbally fight and that’s when he knew.
N: what do you mean you pushed Seria in the lake. Did you try to kill her
C: it wasn’t just my fault. You hated her too. You took her outside to get rid of her
N: what? Are you saying it’s my fault? You tried to kill her because of me?
Cassius didn’t answer but it was clear it was a yess
N: don’t put it on me. I took Seria out because I wanted her to go back to the villa . You pushed a child’s head in ice water. Are you crazy. No wonder she hate us… How could she dance with a person who tried to kill her
And he realized Cassius stopped harassing Seria since she became a stern. Stern’s families have privileges even in the academy. Cassius was the one to reveal that he was a Stern’s brother. He received gifts, praise, made friend with holy knights, received holy objects
N : brother, are you human? You tried to kill Seria but you took all the gains you could from Seria. She was so small, smaller than her peers
And the marchioness came in
N: do you know what Cassius did?
