This literally feels like the FL took the novel at face value and didn’t question the duke’s actions. The person she possessed had extreme self loathing so I honestly believe she may have inevitably just killed herself and that’s what broke the duke. He’s not even looking at the OGFL when he says the line about wanting to live happily with his love so I wouldn’t be surprised if the goal was to resurrect his wife or die trying.
@serene Stitch you literally read my mind I have the same theory and I’m 100% is that. Not too different from other manhwa’s just unnecessary misunderstanding for the plot
@Serene Stitch, probably, maybe he wanted the saintess to heal the fl but failed so he tried to kill her or maybe he wanted the saintess to resurrect her but it was impossible to resurrect the dead that’s why
Based on chapter 0’s reaction to her asking for a divorce, it’s possible that it was a misunderstanding. In the scene where the heroine is holding the dying 2nd male lead, he said that he only wanted to live happily with his love. He never point blank mentioned Aria’s name and he often talked about his wife who passed away. If Aria was a saintess, wouldn’t that mean that she’d have the ability to heal a dying woman. Blinded by grief, he went mad, became obsessed with Aria and started targeting her simply because of her supposed ability.
Just a theory, of course.
