I think they meant that Rezef killed her indirectly by handing her over to a violent man as punishment and not helping her. Even when he poisoned her, it was not to kill her but rather he had a hidden agenda of wanting to get rid of some people by framing them. But it did say in the earlier chapters that she died from her violent husband.
I’m not sure if this correct cause I might mix it with other manhwa as well. But I think, I read a spoiler said Cayena was living the third life or something. Modern life, reincarnated, regressed. If this is the correct one then maybe Rezef from the novel is the one who kill her. Maybe she tried to avoid the novel ending somehow but at the end still die at the hand of another person which is her ex husband
